...or does iTunes 7 scale videos much better in full screen mode. It just seems a lot smoother to me. Maybe I'm just crazy.

But Apple's server is getting hammered right now... I got through to print out the affected serial numbers, then powered down my AlBook, just to be safe, popped out the battery to see if I had a lucky number, and now that I know I do, I can't get back onto the site.
Oh well. I'll try again later.
One thing I wonder about is what the consequences of keeping the 'dangerous' battery as a back-up would be... I'm not really worried about it exploding, but will the Apple police come after me for not returning the old battery once they ship me a new one? Obviously, it would be my own fault if my laptop exploded when using the old battery, but I'm willing to take that risk.
Cheers

Is it just me, or does the new iTunes logo look horrible in the dock? It doesnt seem to match anything, and it just doesnt look as "clean" as the typical dock logos have been/should be. When i went to click iTunes for the first time and it changed from the nice/clean green logo to this blue cheesy looking 1995 icon, I was pretty surprised!
I think everyone should send massive feedback about how horrid everything in iTunes looks compared to before, even with the new features (which are great). Maybe they'll change it back, at least on OS X.

As far as the iPhone goes, it looks a hell of a lot more believable than all the other potential "iPhones" around the internet. You guys are all screaming "fake" and "terrible design" which makes me think back to when the "MacBook" and "MBP" names were circulating around...and the switch to Intel.....and the switch to intel integrated graphics. Then when it turned out to be real you whined like a bunch of children, began to accept it, and now you love it (minus the integrated graphics.....even it's own mother hates it).

Does iPad wifi and iPad 3G use the same update file or do I need to download twice?
Already got iPhone to do so 3 iOS downloads would be nice to avoid!
Why would you want to download instead of using iTunes. It will download and install the right update file for each device. No worries. Based on the varying file sizes being reported here, there are obviously different builds for each device.

Well then I hope they change it and recall more. Because even though my serial # doesnt match, my computer still burns up AND I'm only getting 2.5 hrs on a full charge.

I feel it is highly likely we will see a new tiny laptop from Apple at some point in 2007.
Intel will be releasing Merom next spring, AND an ultra-low voltage version for tiny laptops.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_Core_2#Merom_2
There used to be more detail there but it seems to have gone.
Still baffled as to why Apple stopped the 12'' PB, but maybe they felt they wouldn't sell enough in 9 months to recover the costs of designing an intel core version, before needing a major redesign for the 2007 tiny laptop.
Wait wait.... we're getting all hot and bothered about Core 2 Duo... and you're telling me a new chip will be out in a few months...
I can't keep up!

These new nanos are awesome! I'd get one if I didnt have my 60 gig 5G :D
I like black and silver models most of all. I didnt like black 1G nanos(scratches and stuff), but this alu black is great! :)
Indeed, these Nanos show that Apple has NO competition at all in the market...they are gonna sell like hotcakes, even more now than ever...there are simply NO downsides with the new Nanos.
The black one is already on my list...

So buy the full version outright and get data plans with no caps. That's the beauty of a free market - you get to decide what you want and if the cost is worth it.
Until, amongst other things, your own wage is determined by "market forces". What appears to be gold is really iron pyrite sold on a silver-plated platter.
And if companies start wanting welfare while otherwise saying to us how the free market is "good". Like FedEx: http://www.progress.org/cwfedex.htm

Except China is like a plague of locusts consuming raw materials. All of the coal, petroleum, steel, concrete, etc. they are importing is coming from somewhere else, and procuring these things has negative environmental impact for where theyre sourced.
Because before China, no other country in the world with factories EVER sourced raw materials from other countries.
If countries in Africa, the Middle East, and elsewhere weren't mining, growing, and extracting materials for factories in China, they'd be sourcing materials for factories in India, America, Europe, South Asia, Japan, Korea, or elsewhere. Unfortunately these countries tend to have weak or corrupt governments that don't care about environmental degradation or can't do anything meaningful about it.
Maybe countries with factories that source raw materials from other countries have a responsibility to help those other countries develop mechanisms to protect their environment. But I've yet to see this happen on a meaningful scale anywhere.

It takes 20 mins + per download so if I can update both ipads using the same download that saves 30 mins or so of my night. Done one ipad, downloading iphone software now, then going to try second ipad (the missus' one!).

BTW - The people saying he did a second rate job or is a crappy developer, obviously are not familiar with iPhone development or the code that he created. The Three20 project was very good. I understand his frustration and am not surprised by his decision.

I understand HP and Dell having such a huge market share because of large businesses and old people, but ACER?!...
I'm fairly certain they just dumped 1.8 million units off their trucks this quarter and said somebody bought them...
From the report:
Acer was affected by continued turbulence in EMEA, its biggest market. Moreover, the vendor is stilling feeling the pullback in the Mini Notebook and Consumer space, while its upcoming tablets have yet to fill in the void. In the U.S., Acer also ceded its place to a surging Apple in the US

If you have shared responsibilities e.g. to send the kids to school (not realy cheap where I am), which takes a consierablen slap out of the salary, certain purchases might not be considered really important/essential for the family's well-being by the significant other (compared to lets sayspending the money for new clothes for the kid or a family trip). I still do it but tell her after the fact with a good justification (if possible). Works most of the time (and I am screwed if it doesn't).
I take it you are not married or in a serious long term relationship...?
Here we go with the "You said this, so you must be this..." stereotype...
I know guys where even though they are the "bread winner" or contribute greatly to the funds, they have to approve EVERYTHING through the Wife - whereas the Wife can spend as she pleases....
Happy Wife, Happy Life...
Not into that type of relationship.

I actually did get confirmation that my battery qualified. Took me awhile to get onto the page, but it finally worked. After that, it let me fill out a form to send me a new battery.
I'm not too bummed this has happened; after all, my battery is only holding about 90% of its original charge. However, it's funny that I've already had a battery recalled for my 18-month old PowerBook (15-inch) so this will be the third battery for me.

Nice to see coverflow in there although I do agree that it looked better before.
And is it just me or is it slower?
Yeah is yours slow when you are in the 3rd view tith all the albums on the top? The Music seems to be moving fine, but the top with the album art looks like it takes a bit to load. Is this what you are talking about?

They make all of Nikons sensors, even the high end D3S and D3X dSLRs ones. They also made (or make?) Canon point and shoot sensors; at least as of a few years ago. Sony was one of the first with backlit CMOS as well.
Oh, and I think Pentax, if you want to consider them a camera compay, uses Sony sensors.
Mostly. They fabricate Nikon's sensors and most of their non-pro ones are pretty much identical but the pro level sensors are Nikon's design on Sony's base layers. Also Nikon custom designs the image pipelines and A/D converters. Even so, Sony, Kodak, and Canon are the biggest fabricators for image sensors.
Sony's problems in the market place come from bungling, a not-so-great lens mount and poor positioning against the two big players.
