What do you think about the rumours that a single socket Conroe thanks to it�s superior memory handling effiency (~70%?) compared to Xeons DB-Dimm�s lousy (~25?) might crush a dual socket Xeon in memory intesive tasks, like photoshop.

I work at a local newspaper in Sweden. The keynote starts about 19:00 here i think. I have not been able to work yet today, as MR takes up about 90% of my time. I hope everyone will be pleased with the keynote, and that MRs coverage will be as good as it always is! Cheers guys! =)

I would instantly buy for my office a small form factor (not necessarily as small as the mini) mac with, essentially, the same specs that the 20" iMac has, maybe a bit faster even, if it had dual video outputs, room for a lot of ram and a little better video processor. I don't need or want a built in monitor for the same reason I don't buy anything but individual, stand-alone stereo components. I do not need or want a MacPro. Even the base MP is way more than I need. Just my $.02.
Oops... Just noticed Mrgreen... you have it exactly right, for about $1200?
And keep the mini priced low. It was my first mac, and I only had the 'guts' to try it because it was so cheep... It is a great gateway drug...

I went to my local MicroCenter a few days ago & saw BluRay movies (XXX, Underworld: Evolution, Hitch, and 1 or 2 more) so there ARE movies out for it. Each was worth $29.99 USD so they're gonna be expensive.
Yup... there are BD movies (about 10) and HD DVD movies (about 30) available now. The pricing is about $20-30 dollars each. (Not bad, in my opinion.)
The HD DVD group promo site (http://www.thelookandsoundofperfect.com/) has listed all the LOTR and all the Matrix movies as announced. I wouldn't mind picking up those (hopefully by the end of the year.) Hopefully it's not just marketing "carrot on a stick".

5. iPods screens are too small to watch full length movies on, and their disk space is too limited for movies (iPod nano outsells the video iPod)

I have a 30GB iPod video, and I do enjoy watching movies and tv shows on it. zune is so crappy that they have to put cardboard models out so people don't get frustrated and smash the huge brown booger on the floor. went to target the other day and they don't even have a working model. how am i supposed to see if i like the new gigabeat... i mean zune if i cant play with it? plus what the eff is with the menu button??? On my ipod i can get to my geners without even looking. Just push menu like 5 times and then one click and a quater scroll. one more click and scroll to the bottom. then bam reggae:cool: with the zune if you push the menu...or back..or what ever the hell it is called, when your in the main menu it goes back to the last thing you were doing. i got stuck in a fm/main screen loop which made me laugh at first but the i just got fed up and walked away. how the hell is someone supposed to drive and listen to this thing? I like the "ooooohh, shinnnny" feel of the os but it's lack of organization and usefullness quickly subvert this inital feeling.

Maybe Apple should ban all religious apps.
In a way, religion is very like homeopathy, since it pretends that something non-existant has the ability to cure/help/heal etc.
Like homeopathy, religion can encourage one to do nothing of value ('let's pray for Japan', 'let's try to cure cancer with just water') rather than something physical which actually has an effect. It could be construed as being dangerous and damaging in that sense.
Imagine if Apple actually banned all religious apps. I bet that they would lose a substantial amount of sales. I know people at my church (when I was still religious) who would buy iOS stuff just for using bible apps.

I don't understand why anyone would complain about Apple not waiting and including as a BTO option. If that's the case it wouldn't affect the price of any machine you want with a standard DVD burner.
To say not to include it because of price would mean we would wait forever for new techology! You could say that Sony shouldn't produce set-top Blu-ray players now because they're too expensive!
We have early adopters to thank for the prices eventually going down! The more are sold, the farther the prices will be able to drop.
The turning point may come even faster with PS3.
I think this transition will happen even faster than with VHS to DVD. The US is full of millionaires and people with enough credit card debt to act like they are. They have plasma HDTVs and are going to want Blu-ray when they hear it's the only way to see 1080p full length movies on those fancy screens.

Wrong. The earlier widescreen acrylic models are also called Cinema Displays :) @Lifeinhd is correct, the display shown in the previous post cannot be a first gen cinema display.
The rule is actually very simple as far as the LCD ones go:
LCD <20" = Studio Display (15" and 17")
Any LCD 20" or larger = Cinema Display (Watch the G4 Sawtooth intro on youtube, and you see the very first 22" DVI-D (Pre ADC) Cinema Display which was a BTO option on the 450 and 500Mhz PowerMac G4s in 1999. That was the first gen. The Aluminium ones are about the 4th I believe (22" DVI-D, 22" ADC, 20 and 23" ADC/Acryllic, then the 20" Aluminium ones).

Not really, The reason I spent the money on Oakleys is because from what I've read and seen, Oakley's are tough and will last you years. But also if I travel and don't wish to wear them I want to put them somewhere where they will not be crushed, or drowned, or broken.
I'm also planning on going into the Coast Guard, So if/when I travel or etc, I want to take great care of my equipment & personal belongings.
I got that size because it was the smallest water proof size, I also plan on getting another pair someday.
When I spend $200.00 on a pair of sunglasses, When they are not on my head, I want them put away.
Totally overkill for a pair of Oakley's, but hey, that's your choice. They're not our sunglasses.
For the first visit i had to pay 154.00 when i broke my toe 4 weeks ago. This time I had insurance so I don't know how much it will be. i've been going to this guy for 13 years im sure they have me on some discount program hahah.
That just makes me sad.
