Amazing that a thread on whether or not a person CAN drive a stick shift car has turned into a full blown debate on the merits of automatic vs manual transmissions.

There are several cars that sell more manuals: WRX, Miata, Wrangler, etc. Some cars are available ONLY with a manual, example: Civic Si. My Integra GS-R is manual-only. While most of these are specialty cars hardly any of them are expensive or not mainstream.
As for the rest of your arguments there is way too much misinformation in there to be worth digging through. The point is that a newer automatic is fairly sophisticated and does pretty well, in some cases even as well as the manual. But for pure driving pleasure there is no replacement for the 3rd pedal even in a Ferrari. Anyway you slice it. That's why I buy mine manual only and I would NOT drive an automatic car at all.

Sometimes when I open any Finder window it does not show the Side Bar...Anyone having the same "experience"?...Any solution?;)

It's just time for us to be mature adults and walk away from this. We know this guy is an ignoramus. We know Apple doesn't need saving. We know that as far as corporations go Apple couldn't be much healthier. We know what Apple's target market is, and that a cheap computer won't accomplish anything. Most importantly, we know we won't change iMacjapan's mind. He's stubborn and he's not listening. Why risk carpal tunnel on it? How about those NHL playoffs? I predict San Jose will take the Blues in 6 games.

256 should be perfect. If you need more space I'd say invest in a NAT or just external drive.
I do a ton of iMovie editing of trips n such and with itunes + movies + TV show's i'm only pushing 150gb right now on my MBP.
Don't get me wrong, it is "doable". Heck, even 128gbs is doable. But I like to load my iTunes music catalog on my laptops which is like 50gbs. Then there's all the software I use that take up massive space like the adobe suites and final cut etc. They easily swallow up over 100gbs, leaving very little room to play with for me.
Trust me, I'm definitely a less is more kinda guy. That's why I prefer the MacBook air over the pros...just alittle more would definitely clinch it for me.
I've heard rumors that the next big redesign of the MacBook pros will do away with the optical drives too and mimic the Airs form factor. But that won't be until next January at the earliest.

I've a feeling this might also upset the music companies as I'm sure the one-way sync was one feel-good/selling point for anti-piracy concerns.
Though what is stopping Apple limiting it so that iTMS purchases cannot be exchanged wirelessly between pods but your own non iTMS can?
Ok thats not ideal for the music industry in terms of 'anti-piracy' but i'm sure if Apple could alleviate their fears that no iTMS music can be transfered then there is a good feature there for something like BT on your IPOD.....
Or maybe they will do the rendevous of the IPOD world and you can listen to peoples music in the vicinity to you but cant keep it and hence this would drive up music sales for the record companies.

iMac 17" is not in stock anywhere in european Apple Stores and other web shops. Ships after 3 days, it says. In Canada all iMacs ship after 3-5 days.:cool:

Look at the pricing of Apple produts and tell me they're for everyone. Apple didn't make a mistake and dial the wrong price into their price gun, they did it on purpose. The $400 eMachine PC--THAT is meant for everyone.

I didn't yet. I'm sort of torn. I keep trying to think why it would be good to have a "backup" case, but I really haven't come up with one, so it'll probably just go back. Just been too busy to do it. But 20 bucks is 20 bucks, I should definitely bring that sucker back.

If you want to protect the glass, I suggest you check out a leather case that has an aluminum lining, like the one from Proporta. I am confident this case will protect the glass as good as any case will. The only problem is that this case is more than the $25 max limit.

I am still hoping the laptop is a tablet. Whenever I replay the Keynote about the secret features, I think those features were just not implemented in Leopard. The iphone was the secret hardware feature.

I think what I said about software developers catching up has merit.
It's not just the pro applications themselves that need to catch up to
take advantage of multi-core architecture, but also all those very important
plug-ins.
This especially holds true in audio recording software with some critical plug-in developers still struggling to catch up to universal binary versions of their software.

I've been waiting for a refresh to replace my rev. A Aluminum 24" iMac 2.8Ghz (Aug 2007) with a new 27". Going to sell my Aluminum 13.3" MacBook and iMac and get a new one.
But I will probably wait the extra few months for Lion. No point in upgrading just prior to what I expect to be a relatively major OS release. I doubt 10.7 will be the $29 upgrade Snow Leopard was.
