Um, yeah, tell me something i don't know. The question we are pondering is why more blacks live in poor areas with high crime rates than other races.
This is basic history. Beginning in the early 20th century, several waves of black emigration took place from the rural south to industrialized urban centers, primarily in the north. Just as all minority or immigrant groups do in cities, they tended to concrentrate in the same districts for mutual support. There is nothing specifically "black" about displaced people moving to cities looking for better opportunities. As a group they started at the economic bottom of the barrel, why would be shocked that they their socioeconomic status remains lower than whites, who outnumber them, have far more political and economic power, and have a history of discriminating against them that they is only slowly being reversed?

I'm so glad I'm in Microcomputer Apps right now and have access to the internet, I just glanced at these specs and OMG they're pretty amazing, 24 inches instead of the 23 inch wow just wow.
I can't wait to walk into an Apple store and check these things out, that 24 inch screen has to be amazing!

I am curious as another poster said about the figures with this iPad2 sales. It is an expensive device with not much more to offer than the original. Also with Verizon selling the first gens for next to nothing it almost seems silly to buy the other. Just the other day went to Verizon and bought a second first gen for a family member where the faster processor and cameras are not a priority. I was thinking to myself at that moment and why is anyone waiting in line to get this same thing with rounded edges, faster processor, and 2 sub-par cameras? They also had the ipad2's in stock unsure what size since I did not really care but I played with one and it was neat but not $300 more neat than what I was going in to buy.

As I've heard from those who've actually used Vista, Aero is the only reason to install it (thus far at least). Home Basic does not include Aero.
Assuming my Windows-using companions are correct, Home Basic thusly has nothing to offer. Hence, it is crap.

I feel like I must visit Vancouver and Canada in general, as I see so many great photos in this thread from here.
Canada is sweet! I'm slowing planning a road trip across Canada from end to end. I'd love to visit places further north but I'll have to stick around close HWY 1 and major cities.
Vancouver is neat but it's UBER EXPENSIVE!!!!! In my opinion that is. I feel everything is overpriced and the city doesn't help out much.

It is pretty pathetic that Apple still even sells a computer with a combo drive tho.... that really should be standard even in the $1099 model these days.
Other computer companies, such as Dell, still sell machines with only a combo drive, so it is not like Apple is so far behind the times. :rolleyes: :)

Unless it's an entirely new OS, like iOS 5 for example, it should be able to recognize what version your device is running and download only the essential features of the following update. Having to download the entire OS (which is over 600mb) every single time is a bit ridiculous.

It's ridiculous that iOS hasn't already had this enabled - having to crawl back to my Mac to update my phone or iPad is just a total pain....

it's not all that expensive considering Apple has release three OS upgrades since XP came out at least. If you add those together it is more expensive than Vista. That's how you have to look at it

Consider any computer that is about two years old, and you have computers that, on the one hand, shipped with Windows XP and, on the other hand, shipped with Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger. Now, we have the release of Leopard and Vista! Mac users pay... $129! Windows users pay... $399! Which is cheaper?
Okay, maybe you'll insist on considering computers up to three years old. Now we have Macs having shipped with Mac OS X 10.3 Panther, and Windows machines having shipped with Windows XP. So, now we've reached today (or a few months from now, as the case may be), and Mac users who chose to upgrade each time will get up to Leopard for $129+$129=$258! And Windows users who want to try to keep up buy Vista for $399! But, then there are the Mac users who weren't that impressed with Tiger, so they waited for Leopard. They only pay $129!
I could go on, but I won't. Yes, you can present the argument that 4 x $129 = $516 is greater than Vista costing $399, but it is a very tenuous argument, as I've shown above. Realistically, Leopard is primarily aimed at computers that have been built within the past few years. Therefore, the cost of upgrades only hits one or at most two of the upgrade cycles, and is significantly less than the cost of Vista.

iLife is updated every year at Macworld San Francisco in January. Just wait until then if you really want. I've got a bit of a feeling that we'll be seeing quite a bit of Leopard then, quite possibly even a release date since Vista is released later that month...

So again with the boohoo sob stories of past discrimination that young blacks today have never felt? They are put at an advantage over whites today and have been for the last 40 years. And once again, you say nothing about other countries that have the same issue and no racial history like the US has, i've already asked you twice to acknowledge this and look at it in a more global way, and you keep mentioning slavery and jim crow laws which affected a tiny percentage of africans worldwide a long time ago. stop thinking only within the borders of the US.
